As a stay at home, I feel like most of the day is spent reorganizing after my family, mainly the kids. Their clothes are everywhere on the chairs, on the floors, in the car…sigh. However, my biggest issue with the kids are their shoes, I get called about a hundred times to help them find their shoes, I mean where else should your shoes be? That’s right in your closet (kid organization ideas). Not my kids they just take ’em off wherever! So, I commissioned hubby to make my life easy and help me help them (our kids). He busted out the PVC cubby that he had in his den (that was stacked with drinks by the way) and said maybe something like that might work in their closet (shoe organization ideas). I was down to try it if it was safe, and the kids couldn’t cut themselves on it because PVC can have some sharp serrated edges if it isn’t filed down properly, so yeah safety first and then bring on the solutions (best organization ideas).
He bought a long as hell piece of PVC with a diameter of 6.625″ since it had to be a lot smaller to fit inside the shoe closet, next he measured and cut 14 pieces from that entire pipe and filed down the edges. Next, he started by clamping them together two at a time and drilling holes into the sides of the pipes that would be secured with screws (craft ideas for home decors). This process was repeated until every PVC pipe was connected to another and stacked on top of each other. It was that easy albeit not that quick since all the screws had to be put in securely and one at a time (custom home ideas). We then lifted it upstairs and placed it into the kids’ closet and started organizing the shoes into the spaces, it actually worked, the boys started keeping their shoes in the PVC cubby and I have not heard “where are my shoes mom?” in a while. Now they are asking me to help them find their iPad!
This PVC up so we can begin to build this storage unit.
Be sure to clamp securely so the pipe doesn’t move and we can get to the next step.
Measuring the pipe up for the space and length we need for the kids shoes cubby. | best organization ideas.
Get your desired length marked off on the top of the pipe and make sure that it will work for what you intend to use it for (best organization ideas). I know my buddy Mike did not properly think about what he wanted to store in the PVC pipes and then had to scrap the entire job.
I have to mark the space right around to make sure I stay on track! | college dorm organization ideas.
So after I marked the top of the pipe, I still had to mark the circumference because I needed to not slant or ruin the straight cut needed. When I made my first PVC cubby I didn’t do that and my bottle cubby that was in my dorm room was all the way messed up (college dorm organization ideas).
